Memlin’s portraits exhibition

Memlin’s portraits will be on view through Dec. 31 at the Frick Collection at Fifth Avenue, Manhattan. The collection of the famous artist includes 20 paintings – only two thirds of the whole collection - however, it's rare to see so many Memlings together at once. To organize this event, Frick persuaded several prestigious institutions let those paintings be exhibited - something that won't happen again soon. All the portraits show the painters skill at rendering natural light, and especially the most famous of it - "Man Holding a Coin of the Emperor Nero". The collection, however, will not impress you with too much psychological depth as Memling, along with Van Eyck, Hugo Van der Goes, and the rest of the early Netherlandish school, were fascinated by material beauty mostly. Don’t miss the chance to see the masterpieces.
