Security to be increased during Passover

Next week Jews will celebrate the holiday of Passover, and to prevent the problems that might occur during the holiday and make the atmosphere peaceful and secure, police at New York will increase security measures. This includes addittional patrols in Jewish communities and around places of worship and deployment of heavily-armed units known as "Hercules" near major temples and synagogues, and other large gatherings. The Passover starts April 12 and the New Yorkers are also reminded that sanitation trucks will be making extra pickups in neighborhoods where many Orthodox Jewish families live to keep with the Passover tradition where homes are cleaned to get rid of all traces of "chametz," or leavened products.
