Driscoll Bridge reconstruction
Alfred Driscoll Bridge over the Raritan River in New York will face some changes pretty soon, and as a result some motorists will be able to use the seven new lanes. This is a part of the project which aims to ease a traffic bottleneck. According to this project, which is by the way six months ahead of schedule, southbound traffic from Route 287 will be directed onto the new span and the approach lanes from Route 440 and the Garden State Parkway will be reconfigured. Route 440 traffic should be redirected in two weeks and the parkway is to be shifted next month. As soon as all the southbound traffic is diverted, renovations will begin on the existing Driscoll Bridge. The bridge will have 15 lanes when the project is completed in 2008.
