Workwer-owned restaurant is opened by the Windows on the World survivors
Former workers of the World Trade Center tower restaurant decided to built a new upscale Greenwich Village restaurant just a walk from ground zero. The opening of Colors marks some long-awaited good news for a staff whose lives were forever changed on Sept. 11. Their friends and co-workers were killed in the restaurant atop the tower, and their livelihoods were crushed. The idea was to make a sort of a tribute to September victims in this place. However, the decision was changed and it will be a restaurant with dishes that include favorite family recipes contributed by the workers, whose native lands include Haiti, Jamaica, Italy, Mexico, Thailand, Colombia, Egypt, Bangladesh and China-- and even a handful of workers born in the United States.
