High winds and rain cause power outrages in New York
High winds and driving rain are being blamed for power outages, traffic tie-ups, and delays on public transportation throughout the New York city Wednesday. For instance, downed trees caused scattered delays on both Metro North and the Long Island Rail Road. Con Edison also reports more than 8,700 people were briefly left without power throughout the city, about half of them on Staten Island. An overturned truck on the George Washington Bridge also caused several lane closures, and the Tappan Zee Bridge was closed in both directions after high winds flipped over a tractor-trailer.
