New Yorkers Have to Clear Their Sidewalks

The New York government tries to set things right in the city after last weekend's snowstorm, which caused a lot of snow in the city streets. The uncleaned snow has actually turned into slushy mess, which caused problems in the pedestrian area as it clogged drains and left giant puddles on city streets, especially at crosswalks. That is the reason why the Department of Sanitation has been issuing $100 fines to those who still haven’t cleaned their sidewalks. Pedestrians complained that people were slipping and sliding and couldn’t get across the street correctly. However, others say that it is all the matter of time and the mess will disappear when it gets warmer. Meanwhile, crews are trying to clear the snow off sewer grates so the water can drain down.
