"Cézanne in Provence" – art and food at the same place
Gourmands will have their own party these days as there is the "Cézanne in Provence" show at the National Gallery of Art going through May 7. The show combines both the arts exhibition of the famous author’s works as well as food tasting at the gallery's Garden Cafe, which has been turned into a Provençal bistro. Both the buffet offerings and the a la carte menu at Cafe Provençal were developed by prominent Provençal chefs Francis Robin and Rene Berges in collaboration with the gallery's Restaurant Associates executive chef, Thomas Marr, to highlight the cuisine of Cézanne's birthplace. To create a more French atmosphere the designers decorated the gallery's greenhouse and vests with plants and flowers such as daffodils and lavender.
