The SoHo Grand Hotel New York is located in the SoHo District of Manhattan, which is south of Houston Street and north of Canal Street. The SoHo area has been transformed from a warehouse district to an arts district as artists and sculptors converted spacious warehouses into lofts. Galleries, chic restaurants and fashionable shops soon followed. Then came the SoHo Grand Hotel. Built in 1996, the SoHo Grand Hotel was the first hotel to be built in this thriving area in more than a century. The design of this boutique hotel reflects the stylistic trends associated with this area's transformation from a warehouse district to a chic artist community. The rooms are modern but homey, and the interior is done in muted, beige tones with custom-made, mahogany and upholstered furniture.
